Illiteracy lies at the heart of crime, unemployment and poverty.

Half the prison population

struggles with reading-

but half the prison population can read!

Our aim:

to find the way to give Teach a friend to read

to each prisoner who can read

so no-one will leave prison unable to read.

Listen to extracts of a thank you letter that was sent to Teach a friend to read by a man in prison who - during his 7 year sentence - is teaching his fellows to read and encouraging others to be reading-coaches as well.

HOPE Together is thrilled to be working with Teach a Friend to Read to support prisoners learning to read. We love the vision to put the

Teach a Friend to Read guide into the hands of every inmate to ensure that no-one leaves prison unable to read.

We are excited to be involved and together

we will raise the funds to give a free copy of

our book ’'40 Stories of Hope’ to the new and

to the established readers in prisons.
